This spring, the Figge Art Museum will presents a series of award-winning coming-of-age films in its “Free Film at the Figge” Thursday programming, according to a news release.
Admission is free to see the movies that will be shown in the John Deere Auditorium at the Figge, 225 W. 2nd St., Davenport. After each movie, the audience is invited to socialize and discuss each film with a complimentary glass of wine. (Underwritten by Barb Zimmerman.)

‘We the Animals’ (IMDb)

Trapped in a never-ending cycle of poverty, passion, abuse, and compromise, 10-year-old Jonah and his boisterous older brothers, Manny and Joel, navigate through childhood and their parents’ volatile relationship. Based on the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name.

Internationally, it earned over $43 million, while ticket sales in the U.S. totaled a mere quarter of a million dollars. Director, screenwriter, and actor Taika Waititi went on to enjoy significant critical and commercial success in 2019 with “Jojo Rabbit.”

He was 20 years old when his first film, “I Killed My Mother,” won four awards at Cannes in 2009.
